Spur Gears – Cost-Effective Gearing

  • Posted on February 11, 2010 at 9:41 am

Spur Gears are rotating machine part having cut teeth, which mesh with another toothed part in order to transmit mechanism. The most common purpose for a gear to mesh with another gear or with other mechanical devices. Rotation of one of the gears necessarily causes the other gear to rotate. In this way, rotational motion can be transferred from one shaft to another. The wheels of a gear are different in size so that they can produce increased or decreased torque or speed, as required. When two gears of unequal number of teeth are combined a mechanical advantage is produced.

Spur Gears – Revolutionary Mechanical Parts

Spur Gears – Spur Gears are the simplest type of gear. Spur Gears are used to transmit rotary motion between parallel shafts, normally with a constant ratio and the shafts rotate in opposite directions. These gears can be meshed together correctly only if they are fitted to parallel axles. Spur Gears have straight teeth and are easier to make and much less expensive. Spur Gears come in a wide variety of plastic, brass, nylon, cast iron, bronze, aluminum and stainless steel and you can choose depending on the type of your requirement. Spur Gears are precision machined which assures accurate tolerance and efficiency.
